It can feel overwhelming and scary for some and exciting and life-giving for others! Regardless of where you find yourself now, we provide comprehensive clinical supervision at Luminary Counseling to help you navigate this journey confidently and skillfully. With over a decade of clinical supervision experience, it is safe to say that supervision is our passion. Our Process
Navigating the LPC supervision process can often feel like finding your way through a maze. Our step-by-step process is designed to guide you smoothly from start to finish.
Steps:
- Submit your Application: We are interviewing for LPC associates on a rolling basis. Please take some time to let us know that you’re interested in working with us. We will contact you to follow up when we receive your application.
- Conversational Interview: Applicants who are a good fit for our practice will be invited for a 55-minute conversation interview with Jennifer and other clinical staff.
- Offer and Contract: If it is determined that working together would be a good fit through this process, you will be extended an offer and a contract from Luminary Counseling, PLLC. We supervise Texas LPCs completing direct hours at other approved sites and offer exclusive contracts to associates to complete their hours at Luminary Counseling, PLLC, as 1099 contractors. We also have hybrid contracts for the best of both worlds! Please note: We do not supervise LPC Associates in their own private practices.
- Supervision Sessions: Complete your 3000-hour requirement to become a fully licensed LPC with the support and wisdom of Jennifer and her clinical team. Clinical supervision includes weekly supportive meetings, 24/7 access to your clinical supervisor, a supportive community of peers and colleagues to learn from and alongside, as well as clinical office space to see clients, and much more!
- Clinical Training and Practice: LPCs need to commit to ongoing professional development and clinical training. Through our supervision program, we offer access to a wide variety of clinical trainings. Texas LPCs need 24 hours of continuing education per renewal period. We aim to model this requirement at the associate level to prepare you best for licensure.
- Upgrade with Confidence: Upon completing your 3000 hours, you will have the knowledge and skills to upgrade to a full LPC license and operate as an independent LPC.
- Post-Licensure Professional Development: During your associateship and upgrade time, receive supportive coaching for maximum success with your personal career goals. Everyone is different, and we love to help LPCs determine their next steps in this mental health world. Whether as a fully licensed clinician at Luminary Counseling, PLLC or in your own private practice, confidently continue your career knowing you have formed bridges and professional connections that will sustain you in your career!

FAQs for LPC-Associate’s about Clinical Supervision
We understand that embarking on the journey to LPC licensure can raise many questions. Here are answers to some common concerns to help you feel more confident and informed.
The Texas Behavioral Health Executive Council (TBHEC) guides the requirements for clinical supervision. Texas LPC associates are required to obtain 3000 hours of supervised experience within 5 years of practice, 1500 of which must consist of direct client contact. During this time, 4 hours/month of supervision is required with a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor (LPC-S).
