Emily Heimberger (She/Her)

MA, LPC-Associate, NCC

Hey y’all!

I’m Emily (she/her/hers), an LPC-Associate under the supervision of Jennifer Buffalo, MA, LPC-S, LMFT at Luminary Counseling, PLLC.

My path to counseling began during my undergraduate years at Mississippi State University, where I was a student-athlete on the NCAA softball team. As a collegiate athlete, I came to appreciate the profound impact of meaningful relationships and mental health support. This realization ignited my passion for assisting others in harnessing these forces to embark on their own personal journeys toward inner healing and overall well-being.

Following the completion of my B.S. in Biology, I pursued my M.A. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Liberty University. During my graduate studies, I served the Austin community as a student counselor at The Timothy Center, providing therapy to individuals of all ages in various settings, including individual, couples, and group therapy. This experience equipped me with valuable training to support clients as they navigate diverse life experiences, challenges, and stressors.

While I find fulfillment in working with individuals from all walks of life, I have a particular dedication to helping those in their 20s and 30s who may be grappling with quarter-life crises, anxiety, depression, trauma, or identity confusion. The transition into young adulthood is a pivotal phase marked by shifting roles and increased responsibilities, often accompanied by feelings of instability, fear, uncertainty, and betrayal. I am steadfast in my commitment to assisting you during this period of self-discovery, introspection, and growth.

I draw from a wide array of evidence-based, culturally responsive, and person-centered therapeutic approaches to customize your treatment according to your unique needs. While I maintain an eclectic approach, I frequently incorporate theoretical concepts and assumptions rooted in Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT).

When I’m not in the office, you can find me enjoying activities such as fishing, gaming, or spending time with my four-legged nephew, a charming lab pup named Kobe. I’m also an enthusiast for both culinary delights and the art of crochet.

I firmly believe that every individual deserves a safe, affirming, and liberatory space. It is my unwavering commitment to provide that space for you. Reach out today to schedule a complimentary 30-minute consultation to determine if we’re a good match. It would be an honor to be a part of your journey!
